CS2 Peeking Guide: How to Clear Angles Like a Pro (2026)

The Geometry of CS2: Angle Advantage
Before you learn how to peek, you must understand why geometry matters in Counter-Strike 2. The golden rule is: The player furthest from the corner sees the enemy first.
If you are hugging a wall and peeking a corner, a defender standing far back from that same corner will see your shoulder before you can see any part of them. Always back away from the wall you are peeking out from to maximize your angle advantage.
The 4 Types of Peeks
1. The Jiggle Peek (Information)
Press A or D to barely expose your shoulder, then immediately counter-strafe back into cover. You are not trying to shoot; you are trying to bait a shot (like an AWP) or spot an enemy shoulder. Never expose your full body.
2. The Close-Angle Clear (Shoulder Peek)
Similar to the jiggle, but used to methodically clear tight angles. Move out slightly, clear one specific spot, and if it's clear, move out a bit more. This is standard entry-pathing.
3. The Wide Swing (Ferrari Peek)
Committing to the peek by running past the corner at full speed before counter-strafing to stop and shoot. Use this when you know exactly where the enemy is holding, especially if they are holding a tight angle expecting a slow peek. A wide swing forces them to adjust their crosshair significantly.
4. The Xantares Peek / Crouch Peek
A fast swing combined with a sudden crouch as you fire. This throws off enemies aiming at head height, forcing them to pull down while you retain accuracy. Use sparingly, as crouching commits you to the fight with no escape if you miss or if there are multiple enemies.
Peeker's Advantage in Sub-Tick CS2
Because of network latency, the player moving around the corner (the peeker) sends their position data to the server slightly before the defender receives it. In practice, the peeker sees the defender a fraction of a second before the defender sees the peeker on their screen. Aggression is mathematically rewarded in online CS2, provided your crosshair placement and counter-strafing are flawless.
Executing the Perfect Peek
- Pre-Aim: Position your crosshair on the wall exactly where you expect the enemy to be.
- Isolate the Key: Use only A or D (never W) so you can counter-strafe perfectly.
- Swing: Move out.
- Counter-Strafe: Tap the opposite key to stop instantly.
- Shoot: Fire only when fully stopped.
