What Chromatic Aberration Actually Does to Your View

Chromatic aberration is a post-processing effect that splits color channels slightly toward the edges of the screen, mimicking a camera lens artifact. It's a deliberate stylistic choice in a lot of modern shooters, but it also adds visual noise specifically at screen edges — exactly where peripheral target detection matters most in fast-paced combat.

Turning it off doesn't change your sensitivity, FOV, or hit registration in any way — it's purely visual. But for anyone who plays with target tracking and edge-of-screen awareness as a priority, removing an effect that blurs color fidelity at the periphery is a reasonable, low-cost clarity win.

The One Catch Worth Knowing

Halo Studios notes that in specific situations — like standing in a gravity lift — chromatic aberration is also used as a gameplay-state indicator, not just a stylistic flourish. Some of that effect will still show through even with the toggle off in those specific contexts, so don't expect a 100% clean removal in every scenario. For general combat visibility, though, the toggle does what you'd expect.

Film Grain is a simpler call — it adds texture noise across the whole frame with no gameplay-communication role, so turning it off is close to a pure visibility upgrade with no tradeoff.
