CS2 Crosshair vs. Valorant Crosshair: Key Differences

CS2's crosshair system offers more granular customization than Valorant. It includes a gap, thickness, size, style (static, classic CS:GO, legacy), and the option to use crosshair codes. CS2 also has recoil-based dynamic expansion during spray — which, like Valorant, all pros turn off for competitive play.

How to Import CS2 Crosshair Codes

Open CS2 → Settings → Game → Crosshair → Import Code. Paste any of the codes below and press OK.

CS2 Crosshair Settings Explained

Crosshair Style

  • Style 1 (Default): Dynamic — expands with movement and firing. NOT recommended for competitive.
  • Style 4 (Classic Static): Fixed size, no expansion. Used by most pros. This is what you want.
  • Style 5 (Classic + Scaled): Like Style 4 but scales with resolution. Equivalent to Style 4 at 1080p/1440p.

Size and Thickness

Recommended competitive settings: cl_crosshairsize 2 (small, precision-focused) cl_crosshairthickness 0.5–1 (thin lines, less visual noise) cl_crosshairgap -2 (tight gap — crosshair nearly closed) cl_crosshairgap_useweaponvalue 0 (consistent across all weapons) cl_crosshairalpha 255 (fully opaque)

Color

  • Cyan (color 5): Most visible across all CS2 maps. Used by s1mple and ropz.
  • Green (color 4): NiKo's preference, excellent contrast on light surfaces.
  • White (color 6): ZywOo style — clean, high contrast, works everywhere.
  • Avoid red: Conflicts with enemy hit markers and blood effects.

Dot Crosshair Option

Some players use a center dot only (cl_crosshairsize 0; cl_crosshairdot 1). This provides zero visual noise around the target but requires exceptional crosshair placement to compensate for the lack of directional guides. Not recommended for beginners.

Building the Perfect CS2 Crosshair

  1. Set style to 4 (Classic Static)
  2. Color: Cyan or Green
  3. Size: 2, Thickness: 0.5, Gap: -2
  4. Toggle gaps/size slightly in Practice Range until the crosshair "feels" right at head height on a distant wall
  5. Copy the code (Share Code option in CS2 settings) and never change it
