Best FOV Settings for Valorant, CS2, and Apex Legends (2026 Guide)

What FOV Does to Your Gameplay
Field of View (FOV) is the angular extent of the game world visible on your screen at one time. Higher FOV = wider view, more peripheral awareness, smaller enemies at equal distances. Lower FOV = narrower tunnel view, larger enemies, better long-range target visibility. FOV has two critical gameplay effects:
- Awareness: Higher FOV exposes more of the environment, revealing flanking enemies earlier
- Sensitivity feel: Changing FOV changes the visual speed of enemies crossing your screen — which changes how your sensitivity feels, even if the cm/360 is mathematically identical
FOV and Sensitivity: The Critical Relationship
This is the most misunderstood aspect of FOV: changing your FOV does NOT change your cm/360 mathematically, but it changes how fast enemies appear to move across your screen. At higher FOV, targets cross the same angular distance faster (because the screen represents more degrees per pixel). This makes sensitivity feel faster at higher FOV. At lower FOV, the same movement covers fewer screen pixels, making sensitivity feel slower/more precise.
Best FOV Settings by Game
Valorant (Fixed 103° HFOV)
Valorant does not have a user-adjustable FOV. Riot Games locked it at a fixed horizontal FOV equivalent to 103° at 16:9 resolution. This standardizes competitive conditions — all players have identical visual information. No FOV optimization needed or possible.
CS2 (Native 4:3 or FOV through resolution)
CS2 also has a fixed FOV tied to resolution and aspect ratio:
64% of BLAST Pro 2026 CS2 players use 4:3 stretched because the visual stretching of enemy models makes them wider click targets and slightly easier to hit center-mass at medium range.
Apex Legends (FOV: 70–110°)
Warzone / Call of Duty (FOV: 60–120°)
How to Adjust Sensitivity After FOV Changes
If you change your FOV in any game that allows it, recalculate your sensitivity with our eDPI calculator. Some advanced converters account for FOV-scaled sensitivity — use our DCPROSENS converter when switching between games at different FOV settings to ensure your cm/360 transfers correctly. After any FOV change, spend 30 minutes in practice mode before returning to ranked — perceptual adaptation takes time.
